Stacy has an energetic personality and is kind to her students. She loves her job very much, which is why she has devoted more than nine years teaching. She is very concerned with guiding the students in a way so that they are able to grasp the feel of not only the English language, but the culture as well. Consequently, the students develop more effective communicators. These are only a few reasons why she is such a popular teacher at David’s English Center over the years.
My task is to facilitate the learning process, to encourage and motivate those students that have the desire to learn. One of the key components of a successful teacher is to create an atmosphere of learning that the students will find interesting and stimulates their desire to continue learning. Mistakes should be treated as a learning opportunity, therefore, mistakes are an integral part of the learning process. I believe that the student’s success is my success!
As a Taiwanese immigrant to New Zealand at the tender age of 12, I chose this profession partly as a result of my desire to share my own very positive experience with new generations of ESL students. In teaching English as a language, I try to teach my students to communicate clearly, and strive to create a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere in class, while fostering student participation. I therefore endeavor to make each lesson fresh and appealing, and I try to discover what method of teaching will allow the students to participate energetically in class. I also believe that is it s my personal responsibility to be prepared, to be punctual, and to be engaged in the material I teach and to be as knowledgeable about the text as possible.
Motivation is indispensable for the success in language learning. As an English language teacher in EFL environment, I not only push learners to realize their potential and maximize their progress, but apply appropriate teaching strategies and materials to enhance students’ motivation. My role in classroom act as a language counselor who is a skillful facilitator to help students overcome their negative feelings and turn them positive energy to further their learning. The four skills—speaking, listening, writing, and reading are always integrated a curriculum as an interactive framework.
