The cornerstones of my lessons are reading and conversation, at the core is the exchange of ideas. I approach language study as beginning from the need to understand ideas, in this way we can focus on what interests the student while I, as the teacher, maintain the framework of vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar. Let's have fun studying English together! Then it’s your class, your turn to talk.
"My name is Rebecca and I am from the United States. I am a certified secondary English literature teacher and have taught students from pre-school age to adult. The first classes I ever taught were in sewing, which is one of my hobbies, along with many other arts and crafts. I came to Taiwan to gain teaching experience and to learn about about Taiwanese culture. I enjoy incorporating literature, art, music, films, current events, and personal experiences my lessons because I think they help students understand and remember information. I appreciate multiculturalism and encourage students to discuss their own customs and views to the classroom. The advice I would give to English language learners is to watch English language television and movies that you like, listen to English language music, and play games such as Scrabble and crossword puzzles."Then it’s your class, your turn to talk.
Hi, I come from Perth, Western Australia. At university I majored in English and Philosophy because I love to read, write and question ideas about the world. I’m always keeping up-to-date with what’s happening globally through Twitter and in my free time I like to write funny or thought-provoking short stories. Learning English is a great way to connect with people from all over the world. My own experiences travelling have shown me the power that English has. I’ve seen Japanese people speaking to Germans in English, Russians speaking to French people in English, Brazilians speaking to Iranians in English, and the list goes on. The fact that English connects such a wide variety of people together is the main reason I’m excited to be an English teacher……and the lessons can be really fun too. So, hopefully I’ll see you walking my classroom soon! Then it’s your class, your turn to talk.
I teach because it is what I love doing. I can't imagine doing anything else.
I love the look on my students' faces when the light bulb goes on!
My way of teaching is positive and encouraging. I make every classroom
hour an exciting adventure - informative, motivating and challenging. I put
myself in a students’ position and review each activity from their point of
view Whenever my students learn something new, I stress how much they have
achieved so far rather than pointing out how much more they need to learn.
During my teaching experience I have observed that a confident learner
progresses more quickly than a discouraged one. Then it’s your class, your turn to talk.
