INFORMATION
Hello! I’m Deeani. I’m a South Florida native who loves learning about different cultures and languages. In fact, I love learning so much that I love teaching others, because teaching is a two-way learning experience. Teachers learn as much from their students as students from their teachers.
I lived in Japan for three years teaching English to Japanese elementary school students. As a result, I can speak Japanese, as well as Spanish from Latin American heritage. In my free time, I enjoy writing stories and songs. I am presently working on publishing a fantasy novel, as well as releasing my music online!
As for my tutoring philosophy, I believe in being adaptive whilst challenging oneself. In this I mean that I adapt to the student’s learning style for their comfort, but also encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone to learn something new. By the end of it all, my goal is for them to find out, to their surprise and delight, that what they initially thought was intimidating is actually more fun than they thought! In this way I aim to foster a desire of life-long learning amongst students.

• Create and implement activities and museum events for children (K-12) educating on Japanese culture
• Conduct children and adult outreach program for Japanese cultural activities and presentations
